Google cuts off blogsGoogle has just removed the API that allows the blog editor I use 'Mars Edit' from uploading images to their Picassa image storage. This means that I cannot any longer write articles with pictures or presentation slides. This is a disaster. So I will for now stop this blog. Information about my own and club projects, and Arduino sketches for radio applications, can be found at FTP download web site. Please have a look there for project information. It is organised like thisALL ARDUINO SKETCHES - for every project Sketches can be found here. Download and copy/paste into a new Arduino sketch, and save locallyCLUB PROJECTS - the projects I have run at our local radio clubMY PROJECTS - personal develpoments which may be of interestTECH INFO - a random collection of techncial information which may be helpful73 to allAntonyM0IFA. Windows is not the dominant OS these days, many are using Linux and many more MacOS on Apple computers. But the world of Amateur radio is poorly served by manufacturers, especially SDR transceiver people, for the Mac.

So here's what I have found so farI am using the windows emulator Crossover (basically a graphic front end to the open source 'Wine' system.MACOS native apps1. MultiMode Cocoa - just about every digital mode supported, PSK31, SSTV etc2. CocoaModem - another app supporting digital modes, including here Hellscriber3. MultiScan - for SSTV4. Fldigi - well known digi-mode app5. SDR Radio - a rather poor SDR program, great, simple interface but poor config and audio management6. Gqrx - works well for rTL sticks7.
CubicSDR - the out and out winner SDR program. But a bit 'industrial', not a friendly interface8. WSJT-X - the must have FT8 app9. GridTracker - nice visual of stations on a map, has useless features10. JT-BRIDGE - pretty, display of stations, country, distance away, etc, but for what?11.
Sdr Software For Mac
JSCAll - the new 'FT8-like' full message app. Does not fully work as a Mac app, and the interface is poorWINDOWS - if you mustI just moved from using Crossover (a kinda Wine GUI) to running Parallels and installing Windows 10. This all works smoothly but gobbles up RAM. Better to have 32GB if you can, just about works on my MacBook with 8GB. USB and Audio interfaces are problematic, but with enough digging into the terrible old fashioned Windows control panels they can be got to work, I think - it's early days. Anyway I have HDSDR running at 96kHz input (+/-48kHz displayed).I am checking to make sure ELADs FDM-SW2 will run OK under Windows, as I am thinking of buying an FDM-DUO SDR transceiver.
A very modern SDR design. Largely based on the well known WSTJ-X, FT8 software, there is a new one called JS8CALL. FT8 sends brief 13 character messages in 15 second slots. JS8 extends this to send longer messages in one or more slots. Thus allowing a two way open chat. FT8 for 40m is based at 7074kHz USB, JS8 is higher at 7078kHz USB.
This is so far what I have received:Showing the FT8 mass of signals at 7074kHZ and a single solitary JS8 signal just above 7078kH - as received on the Hack Green web SDR. And this is a decode of signals received on my Elektor SDR receiver.
NHL Scores
The major professional and college sports in the United States break up their games into quarters and halves while pro hockey is in a world all by itself. The NHL Scores are shown in periods three to be exact. An NHL game consists of 60 minutes, divided equally by 20 minutes and they’re labeled first (1), second (2) and third (3). Similar to other professional sports, the NHL doesn’t have ties anymore so you won’t see stalemates on the NHL Scoreboard anymore. In order to prevent ties, the league has created not one but two options to create a winner and a loser.
Overtime and Shootouts
When you viewing the VegasInsider.com NHL scoreboard, you’ll sometimes see a 4 or 5 listed next to the third period. The fourth period (4) is known as Overtime, which is a 5-minute period and the first team to score becomes the winner. If the game is still tied after the overtime period, the NHL Scoreboard will go to the fifth (5) period or the Shootout. Each team is given three penalty shots to score on their opponent and whoever has more goals is deemed the winner. If the score remains tied, a ‘sudden death’ format will follow until a winner is declared.
Understanding the Line
Next to each team, you’ll see a number which is called the Rotation. When placing a wager at a sportsbook, you’re betting on that number which is associated with the team. The NHL shows their line in Money-Line format which means you just have to pick the winner of the game. The O/U is abbreviated for the Over-Under or Total, which is a wager that accounts for all goals scored in the game. Bettors can go ‘high’ or ‘low’ for this matchup and cheer for both offensive or defensive units. Make a note that goals scored in the shootout only add ‘one’ goal to your total outcome.
The ATS column could easily be the most important featured on the NHL Scoreboard and it’s clearly for bettors looking for Against the Spread result. After the game is completed, the winning team is highlighted with a “Red Check” plus they also receive a “Cover” label in the ATS column. The Over or Under is given as well for the total, and don’t be surprised to see the word ‘Push’ which is a synonym for tie in the sports betting industry. If you are in a state where sports betting is legal, please check out our online sportsbook directory to find the best and most secure places to make NHL bets.

What’s great about the VegasInsider.com NHL Scoreboard is that it includes valuable betting information to help you with your NHL wagers. Prior to the start of the game, bettors can follow the Line Movements on our NHL Scoreboard from multiple sportsbooks in the United States. Knowing where the money is being moved can be very key if you prefer to follow ‘sharp’ bettors or perhaps fade the ‘public’ masses.
Before the game, the NHL Scoreboard populates a Preview link and that feature shows the Results and Records of both NHL teams in the matchup. When the game concludes a Recap link will appear and that’s a great tool for bettors to keep in their handicapping workshop. Knowing how the game played out and finding out the betting result is great.
NHL Livescores
Along with showing the matchups for games played in the past, present and future – the NHL Scoreboard helps the bettor follow the action with NHL Livescores. The time is updated throughout each period as are the results. What’s great about betting on the NHL is that you have 10-15 minutes after the first and second periods to regroup and fire away with In-Game wagering. You can certainly do that during the game while you follow the Livescores but that extra time never hurts to provide an edge.
